Schemes

Woodsure is the UK’s only woodfuel quality assurance scheme. Here we outline the details of the Woodsure scheme along with details of the schemes that Woodsure administer.

The Woodsure Scheme

Woodsure Quality Assured

The UK’s only woodfuel quality assurance scheme. The scheme can assure a range of wood fuels, from firewood and briquettes to pellets and Woodchip. Routes to assurance are available for Producers and Traders, BSL Self-Suppliers and Ofgem Self Reporters.

Administered Schemes

Ready to Burn

Woodsure is the Certification Body appointed by DEFRA to administer the Ready to Burn Scheme for wood fuels, an initiative to help homeowners look after their stoves and improve air quality.

Biomass Suppliers List

The Biomass Suppliers List (BSL) is a list of woodfuel that has proven it meets the eligibility requirements for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. It allows RHI participants to easily demonstrate to Ofgem that the fuel they are using in their biomass boilers meets the RHI sustainability criteria required to claim their RHI payments.

Additional Services

ENplus® Auditing

The ENplus® quality assurance scheme has become internationally recognised as the fuel quality standard for wood pellets.  Woodsure is an auditing body for ENplus® and its auditing team covers the length and breadth of the UK.

Manufactured Solid Fuels

Manufactured solid fuels will need to meet certain standards to be listed as Ready to Burn from May 2021. A “manufactured solid fuel” means a fuel manufactured from coal, wood, plant-derived materials, waxes or petroleum products with other ingredients, for combustion in domestic premises in England. This scheme is administered by our parent company, HETAS.
